KEEP attended the 11th ACE 1 and 2nd ACE Impact Workshop in Senegal from 23rd-27th September 2019.

The KEEP Team comprised of Prof. Kwabena Biritwm Nyarko (Project Lead), Dr. Jerry John Kponyo (Deputy Project Lead), Dr. Henry Nunoo-Mensah (MSc Coordinator), Mr. Edward Nketia-Asante (Procurement Director, KNUST), Mr. Kwadwo Nyantakyi Marfo (Project Manager) and Mr. George Asante (Project Accountant).

There was a progress report presentation on the ACE 1 to let Centres know how they fared. The report highlighted the M & E Progress, Disbursement and Utilization of funds. This report also gave the new Centres an overview of some of the key milestones that they would be expected to achieve and the results framework which they would work within. A presentation was also made on the current status of the African Centres of Excellence (ACE) Impact. The presentation highlighted the Basic and Full Readiness of the Centres.

There were plenary sessions on Digital Development, Institutional Impact and on Verification. The team also participated in parallel sessions on Monitoring & Evaluation, Procurement and Financial Disbursement which explained into detail what is expected of us as a Centre.There were thematic breakout sessions for implementation Support. This provided the opportunity for the various Colleges of Engineering to discuss about the their vision, challenges and sustainability. A lot of ideas were proposed and discussed thoroughly. A whatzapp group was created for further interaction amongst the various Colleges.

The next  workshop is scheduled from 24th -28th February 2020 in Nigeria.
