KEEP Celebrates Dr. Ben K. D. Asante on Prestigious KNUST Honorary Doctorate

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) conferred an Honorary Doctor of Science (DSc. Honoris Causa) upon Dr. Ben K.D. Asante, a valued member of the KEEP Advisory Board, in recognition of his transformative contributions to engineering, energy, and education in Ghana and West Africa.

This distinguished honour was presented at the university's 59th Congregation, celebrating a career defined by excellence and service. Dr. Asante's impact is felt nationally, most notably through his role as technical director for Ghana's first gas infrastructure project, where he oversaw its engineering, construction, and operations. He was also instrumental in developing the national gas infrastructure master plan in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the Energy Commission.

As a dedicated member of the KEEP Advisory Board and the Board of Trustees for the KNUST College of Engineering Endowment Fund, Dr. Asante provides invaluable strategic guidance. His commitment extends beyond advisory roles; he actively shapes the next generation of engineers as an adjunct lecturer at the College of Engineering. Dr Asante is highly passionate about bridging the gap between academia and industry to ensure that our students are industry-ready after graduation.

Dr. Asante's generosity and influence have directly fueled tangible advancements at KNUST. Through his efforts, the College of Engineering received a $50,000 grant to establish a state-of-the-art laboratory for the automotive industry. Furthermore, the university community owes him a debt of gratitude for his pivotal role in the renovation of the KNUST hockey pitch.

A passionate advocate for knowledge sharing, Dr Asante co-authored a seminal book on national gas and liquefied natural gas, sponsored by the US Department of Energy.
