Congratulations Nkrumah Godwill Yeboah

Nkrumah Godwill Yeboah is a graduating MPhil student from the Mechanical Engineering Department at KNUST.

His research interests are Renewable Energy, Electrical Power Quality, Solar Energy Adoption and potential, and Smart Grid.

For his MPhil project, he conducted a comparative analysis of the power quality of solar PV power only, hybrid solar PV grid power, and national grid power only for SMEs. He focused on the case of a laundry shop in Ghana at Ayeduase. The study revealed that operating a business on Solar PV only assured the end user of the best electrical power quality. The Hybrid Solar PV-Grid system is also a good candidate for bad weather where the Solar PV would not be able to yield the expected energy. The National Grid proved to be of lower quality and a potential hazard to equipment. Contrary to the prevailing opinion in most publications, this study demonstrated that connecting Solar PV to the National Grid resolves power quality problems for end consumers. He hopes his research encourages SMEs to adapt to the use of solar energy.

KEEP has been instrumental in his academic success by providing financial support and internship opportunities. He is very grateful for the mentorship, encouragement, and training he received from the staff and management of KEEP.

As he enters a new season of life, he plans to pursue a PhD in Smart Grid and Renewable Energy. He hopes to commercialise renewable energy, advance knowledge, and implement the knowledge acquired.
