Edmund Kwafo Adjei-Saforo is a graduating PhD student from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at KNUST. His research interests include advanced algorithms for power quality enhancement through harmonic filter control and applications, modern power system analysis, design and emerging technologies, and the integration, control, and optimisation of electric vehicle technologies in power networks.
He utilised an enhanced design of a model predictive current control strategy for active harmonic filter operation to mitigate harmonics in grid-interactive distribution systems. His novel design significantly reduced Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), which complies with the stringent requirements of IEEE Standard 519-2022. This research flourished under the astute counsel, patient mentorship, and distinguished scholarly guidance of Prof. Emmanuel Asuming Frimpong and Dr. Francis Effah Boafo.
He profoundly appreciates the partial sponsorship from the KNUST Engineering Project (KEEP) under the distinguished College of Engineering. He gratefully celebrates the KEEP staff and management's noble support and gracious encouragement.
