Abayomi A. OKESOLA is a graduating PhD student from the Materials Engineering Department at KNUST.
His research interests are nanocomposite manufacturing, wear prevention in hydro turbines, renewable energy, process optimisation, material synthesis and characterisation.
He synthesised and characterised highly crystalline carbon nanotubes for his PhD work, produced a nanocomposite material, coated metal substrates, and tested the same for wear and friction performance. His work showed great potential in wear and friction protection of hydro turbine blades, displaying up to 50% improvement in the protection of this component.
The KNUST Engineering Education Project (KEEP) has been instrumental in his academic success by providing financial support. He is very grateful for the support and encouragement received from the staff and management of KEEP.
He plans to carry out further work in advanced material, material optimisation, and new material for wet industrial applications.
