Yaw Opoku Mensah Sekyere is a graduating PhD. student from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at KNUST.
His research interests are Automatic Voltage Regulation, Electrical Machines, and Load Frequency Control in Renewable Energy Sources (RES) Integrated Power Systems.
He developed two PSO algorithm Variants – (TIW and ADIWACO) for tuning PID controllers and tested them on benchmark optimisation functions. His outputs established the unequivocally superior performance of his algorithm - the ADIWACO-tuned FOPI-FOPIDN controller ANFIS.
He incorporated fractional calculus and developed an ADIWACO-tuned fractional order controller for dataset generation.
This led to three novel input fractional order ANFIS controllers for LFC, which were part of the six publications from his PhD. Study.
He plans to work further on implementing his developed PSO algorithm variants in other groups of controllers to optimise controllers for efficient automation and control systems.
