The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has secured the second slot at the grand finale of the second edition of the Ghana Gas Challenge by knocking out University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and All Nations University (ANU) in the zone 2 contest of the Ghana Gas Challenge on Tuesday, 2nd November 2021 at the College of Engineering Auditorium.

After five (5) rounds of a heated and competitive contest, the lean team of KNUST won with a slimmer margin of two (2) points ahead of their closest contender, UENR. The KNUST contestants, Emmanuel Yankson and Nicholas Obeng Antwi are both from the Chemical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering.

The Gas Challenge is designed to refine society on the domestic use of gas, the economic opportunities along the gas value chain and the health and safety matters related to the use of gas. The competition is aimed at educating the general public on the operations in the gas industry in Ghana.

The KNUST team is expected to meet the University of Ghana team and the winner of the zone 3 contest (which is yet to be held) at the grand finale of the second edition of the Gas Challenge.
