Amazon Global Robotics and RAIL KNUST to collaborate on Robotics Initiatives

Nia Jetter, Amazon Robotics AI Senior Principal Technologist and Walter Mencer, Programmes Manager, Amazon Global Robotics, visited the Responsible AI Lab for collaboration on Robotics initiatives.

Prof. Jerry John Kponyo, Principal Investigator and Scientific Director, RAIL, spoke about the RAIL Robotics Club for Senior High School Initiative being led by the Women in Technology Officer, Dr. Eunice Akyereko Adjei.

Nia Jetter presented the robotics initiatives of Amazon Global Robotics and said safety measures are essential to Amazon’s robotics projects.

The team visited the Responsible AI Lab and had researchers in the lab take them through the research work conducted.

The team also visited the Dipper Lab, Cyber Security Lab and the KNUST College of Engineering Innovation Center.

Areas for collaboration and research opportunities were discussed, and both teams agreed to organise a workshop for the trainers in the RAIL Robotics Clubs, review the teaching materials of the robotics clubs and create a model to train students' competencies and build their capacities in robotics. Internship opportunities for students at Amazon were agreed on as well.
