Ing. Frederick Asare-Yeboah received a plaque from His Excellency Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his outstanding service to KEEP
The Vice-Chancellor, KNUST, Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, honoured and recognised the esteemed KNUST Engineering Education Project (KEEP) Advisory Board Members for their outstanding service and immense contributions towards the College of Engineering. They were given plaques as a token of appreciation at the KNUST 57th Special Congregation.
The KEEP Advisory Board Members honoured were Ing. Frederick Asare-Yeboah, Ing. William Amuna, Nana Joe Mensah, Dr. Kwaku Aning, Ing. Mrs. Patricia Obo-Nai, Dr. Ben K.D. Asante, Ing. Mrs. Nana Akua Brenyah Boateng, Prof. Johnson Asumadu, Prof. Muyiwa Sam Adaramola, Prof. Joseph Yaw Yeboah, Dr. Victor Atiemo-Obeng, Dr. Joseph Odartey Chruickshank, Dr. Richard Okine and Dr. Chux Daniels.
At this same special congregation, Ing. Frederick Asare-Yeboah and Ing. William Amuna, both KEEP Advisory Board members, were conferred with Honorary Degree, DSc. Honoris Causa for their outstanding service to KNUST, Ghana and West Africa.
Ing. Frederick Asare-Yeboah, Chairman, Associated Consultant and Chairman, KEEP Industrial Advisory Board, had this Honorary Degree conferred on him for his distinguished service and invaluable contribution to the Engineering Profession, Education and Training in KNUST and beyond.
Ing. Asare-Yeboah is an eminent Civil Engineer with a career spanning over 50 years in the consulting Engineering Industry in and outside the shores of Ghana. Among his notable achievements, he supervised the designing, planning and construction of the 4-tier Pokuase Interchange Project, the first of its kind in West Africa. He worked as a Senior Bridge Engineer on the Oforikrom Bypass and the reconstruction of the Lake Road. With over 45 years of experience in the analysis, planning, design, and supervision of physical projects, he has supported the Africa Center of Excellence Development Impact Project, KEEP. He has shown resilience in steering the board in achieving its objectives. His proactiveness and insight have significantly contributed to the project's success, garnering considerable international recognition.
Ing. William Amuna, the Technical Controller of Millennium Development Authority (MIDA) and a KEEP Industry Advisory Board Member received this Honorary Degree for his significant contribution to policy-making in the energy sector, implementing critical National Projects and supporting KNUST in several spheres.
Ing. Amuna is an internationally renowned Electrical Engineer who began his career at the Volta River Authority (VRA) in 1985 as an Assistant Engineer. He became Director of Projects and Systems Monitoring at VRA through hard work and commitment. His distinguished career led him to serve as a Policy Advisor to the Minister of Energy, the Technical Controller Controller of MIDA and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).
During his tenure as CEO of GRIDCo, the company was voted the best transmission utility in West Africa for 2015/2016 and was adjudged the best CEO at the 2017 Ghana Energy Awards. As a proud alumnus of KNUST, he has genuinely supported the University in advancing engineering education by facilitating access to expanded student internship and vacation attachment programmes.
His contribution to keeping the Electrical Engineering Lab at the cutting edge to meet industry standards and his service as an industry expert on the KEEP Industrial Advisory Board under the Africa Center of Excellence for Development Impact is commendable.
