The Orientation for the KEEP Scholarship students took place on Friday 11th October, 2019 at the Antarctic Conference Room. Project Management Members and students introduced themselves to each other. The Deputy Project Lead, Dr. Jerry John Kponyo gave a presentation about what the whole Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) concept is all about, he highlighted the vision, mission, research thematic areas, academic programs, sectoral and international advisory board members, project team members and strategic partners. The next presentation that followed was by the Dr. (Mrs) Helen Essandoh, the MPhil/PhD Coordinator. She took the students through the academic programmes, what goes into them and the modalities that they are to satisfy for graduation. She further told them that as KEEP Scholarship students, there are further requirements they are to meet to continue being on the scholarship scheme. The Immigration Directorate took the students through a detailed presentation of conditions they must adhere to so that they do not have any qualms with the law. This was of immense benefit especially to the foreign students. University Health Services also gave a presentation of the health delivery systems they are to benefit from by virtue of being students in the University. The Counselling Unit also exposed the students to the services available to them and told them never to feel shy of seeking their services because they are there to ensure the holistic development of the students. The Librarian also exposed the students to the services available to them. The students really expressed interest in their services and proposed a hands on training at the College of Science. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions after each session.

Four students nominated themselves to serve as the student representative. The students gave a brief about themselves and why they would want to occupy the position. At the end of the voting, Ikpo Valentine Chibueze emerged the winner with 10 out of the 23 votes cast.
